NEW YORK (AP) — Kelly Clarkson still is the top dog with “American Idol,” at least in terms of money earned. Forbes magazine reports Clarkson is the top-earning “Idol” contestant, earning $8 million last year.

Carrie Underwood and Chris Daughtry are tied for second, each making $5 million last year. Scotty McCreery is third, with $4 million, edging out Jennifer Hudson, who pulled in $3 million, and Jordin Sparks with $2 million.

The next top-earners made more than the “Idol” winners that year: Adam Lambert, Katharine McPhee, Kellie Pickler and David Archuleta. David Cook checks in at tenth place.
