KEEP ALLIANCE BEAUTIFUL IMPLEMENTS P.U.T.

Keep Alliance BeautifulKeep Alliance Beautiful, Inc., KCOW Radio, and The Alliance Times Herald announce a new program called P.U.T. or Pick Up Trash. The concept is the idea of Pete Taylor who approached the group to do something about the litter in Alliance, Hemingford, and Box Butte County.

Taylor observed Theresa Dykes picking up litter every time she walks to work at Box Butte General Hospital.

Taylor also helped with the litter index in Alliance in May. He decided to help KAB further by developing a program to get residents of the community to help with the elimination of litter.

The program began July 1. Any resident of Box Butte County may register and pickup a Cleanup/Greenup green bag from KCOW, the Alliance Times Herald or Keep Alliance Beautiful. Just line it with another plastic bag and start picking up litter. Hold on to it until the end of the week.

Then bring your plastic bag full of litter down to the recycling center or have Pete Taylor pick it up by contacting him at 762-3096. KAB staff will weigh it to see how much litter you were able to collect.

Each week between July and September, a photo will be taken of someone with a green bag collecting litter. That photo will appear in the Alliance Times Herald and placed on the KCOW Panhandle Post.

That person will then be eligible for a drawing for $100 at the end of the program in September.
