“JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE” MOVIN’ ON UP STARTING TONIGHT (BUT SO IS LENO…)

LOS ANGELES (AP) – “We’ll never be on later than this again.” That’s what Jimmy Kimmel told his audience last night, as he wrapped up his final show in the midnight time-slot. Kimmel thanked his viewers for staying up late all these years. Kimmel said “hopefully” they’ll “make many more memories” in the years to come. He ended the show with the running gag of apologizing to Matt Damon for running out of time, saying he’d be rescheduled.

When “Kimmel” premieres a half-hour earlier tonight, Jay Leno will have a one-minute head start. The “Tonight” show will air a minute earlier to try to steal viewers from Kimmel. He says it’s “an interesting strategy.” Kimmel says it shows him that they’re “a bit concerned.”
