Next week all the seriousness of X’s and O’s will begin when fall football camp opens at Chadron State. With a few days left of “summer” for the guys at the RMAC Kickoff in Colorado Springs we wanted to have a little fun with Jake Geil, Tyler Lewis, Kyle Temple and Coach Jay Long and went “4 Downs” with each of them to learn a little more about their personalities and thoughts on some fun topics.
4 Downs with Chadron State senior defensive lineman Kyle Temple
- 1st Down: You’re a knifemaker. How did that come about and when did you get interested in making knives?
Kyle: “ I kind of do a little blacksmithing, a little knifemaking. I live by myself during the summers back home (Norfolk) a long ways from anybody so I was kind of looking for a hobby to pass the time a little bit when I was off working. I’m still learning, but there’s some tips and tricks from other people, (I’ve) visited some guys who can help me along. It’s an interesting hobby, not a whole lot of people get to do it and I think it’s kind of fun once everything comes along.”
- 2nd Down: “You’re a huge Husker fan. How many games do you think Scott Frost and your ‘Skers are going to win this year?”
Kyle: “I would like to say all of them, (laughing). Realistically, I think we counted the other day and I’m thinking seven. Make a good bowl, good first start and step ahead for the future. I’m very confident in them and it’ll go well I’m sure.”
- 3rd Down: “What’s your favorite thing to do in Chadron?”
Kyle: “Probably just spending time with a lot of people. There’s a lot of hunting and fishing, and beautiful scenery and stuff that’s a great time…spend time around town. The people in Chadron really make it what it is. Both between the football team and off the field. There’s a lot of guys around that are a good set of people that I really enjoy being around and makes town a whole lot better.”
- 4th Down: “Tell fans what your major is and what you want to do with your career once you get out of Chadron State?
Kyle: “I’m majoring in Ag Business. I’ve got nine credits left and am just about there. I don’t really have any plans (post college) as of yet. I’ll kind of get that way once football season winds down towards graduation time.”
