HUSKERS TO FACE GEORGIA IN CAPITAL ONE BOWL

Nebraska will return to the Capital One Bowl for the second consecutive season, and will take on the Georgia Bulldogs. The Capital One Bowl will kick off at 1 p.m. ET (Noon CT) with national television coverage on ABC.

The Huskers will enter the game with a 10-3 record, following a Big Ten Championship game loss to Wisconsin on Saturday night. Nebraska has won nine or more games each of the past five seasons, one of only four schools in the country to win at least nine games each of the past five seasons. Nebraska is ranked 23rd in the Associated Press Poll and 21st in the USA Today Coaches poll heading into the contest.

Georgia comes into the Capital One Bowl with an 11-2 record, after a 32-28 loss to Alabama in the SEC Championship Game. The Bulldogs, who captured the SEC Eastern Division crown, will head to Orlando ranked fifth in the coaches poll and No. 6 according to the Associated Press. Head Coach Mark Richt is in his 12th season as Georgia’s head coach.  The matchup between Nebraska and Georgia will be just the second all-time between the two schools. The first meeting occurred in the 1969 Sun Bowl when Nebraska defeated Georgia, 45-6, in El Paso.

The appearance in the Capital One Bowl will be Nebraska’s third trip to the Orlando bowl game. The Huskers participated in the contest following the 1990 season against Georgia Tech. Last season, Nebraska took on South Carolina in the Capital One Bowl, falling 30-13 to the Gamecocks.

The trip to the Capital One Bowl is Nebraska’s 49th all-time bowl appearance which is tied with USC and Tennessee for the third-most bowl appearances in the nation.

Tickets for the game are $87 and $92 and tickets will go on sale to the general public at 9 p.m. CT on Sunday night at Huskers.com. Nebraska will receive an allotment of 12,500 tickets for the game. Tickets can also be purchased over the phone beginning Monday morning by calling the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office at 1-800-8-BIG RED.
