Huskers Continue Clashes with Champions at Creighton
The No. 25/22 Nebraska women’s basketball team takes on its third consecutive 2012 conference champion when NU travels to Creighton on Wednesday at D.J. Sokol Arena.
Tip-off between the Huskers (6-2) and the reigning Missouri Valley Conference champion Bluejays (3-2) is set for 7:05 p.m. at Sokol Arena, with live video available to HuskersNside subscribers through a shared stream from GoCreighton.com.
The Husker Sports Network will provide a live radio broadcast of the game with Matt Coatney and Jeff Griesch on the call, including flagships B107.3 FM in Lincoln and The Wolf 93.3 FM in Omaha. A free live audio stream will also be available on Huskers.com.
Nebraska, which is coming off a 60-51 win over defending Big Sky champ Idaho State, will be facing its sixth 2012 postseason qualifier of the young season. The Jays return four starters from a 20-13 team. CU earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament after winning the Missouri Valley tournament title. CU will be NU’s fourth 2012 NCAA Tournament foe of the year.
Creighton also has faced a strong early schedule, as the Huskers will be CU’s third top-25 opponent of the season. The Jays opened with a 69-48 loss to No. 12 Oklahoma and suffered a 58-48 loss to No. 22 Kansas on Nov. 25. Both of those games were on CU’s homecourt. Creighton owns road wins at South Dakota State, South Dakota and BYU.
All-America candidates Jordan Hooper and Lindsey Moore lead the Huskers. Hooper produced her third double-double of the year with 29 points and 10 rebounds against Idaho State. She is averaging team-bests of 17.9 points and 8.8 boards per game. Moore has added 15.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.8 steals while producing double figures in NU’s first eight games.
