Despite the snowy weather, the world famous traveling Harlem Crowns will be in Chadron tonight to play team made up of faculty and staff from the Chadron Public Schools, assisted by a few non-school community members.
The game is a fundraiser for the Wanderlust Cardinals, a group of20 Chadron High students and chaperones who will be visiting Europe next month.
It’s in the Chadron Middle School Gym with tipoff at 7 p-m. Advance sale tickets are $9 and available through Chadron High School and Wanderlust members. Tickets at the door with be $10.
The Harlem Crowns were formed in the mid-50s by Chico Burrell, who played with the famed Harlem Globetrotters for 12 years and passed away last year at age 83.
The team is currently managed by Herb Scaife, and team members are chosen for showmanship as well as their ability to play above–average basketball.
The Harlem Crowns have staggered the comical imagination of spectators around the United States, Canada, and Mexico as well as Tokyo, Manila, and Singapore.
