Gordon/Rushville sweeps Bridgeport to win Legion Baseball District Championship

There’s a second American Legion State Tournament-bound baseball team from Nebraska’s Panhandle. The Gordon/Rushville Regulators won twice Tuesday night to win the C7 District Championship and earn an automatic berth to this weekend’s event.

Needing to win twice to advance, the Regs brought the bats early in both games to beat Bridgeport 11-2 then 13-0 building big leads early and getting solid pitching from Brock Black Calf in the opener with a complete game followed by Matthew Johnson’s two-hit complete game in the championship clincher.

Black Calf helped out with the stick too going 3-4 with four RBIs in game two. Morgan Hurlburt and Trent Reed each drove in three runs as the Regs cruise into the state bracket in Albion starting on Saturday.

Gordon/Rushville will match-up against the winner from Area 1 when the brackets are officially announced. The Regs will play at 10:00 am Mountain Time.
