A hamburger made by a Gering bar is one of the 5 finalists in the 3rd annual Nebraska’s Best Burger contest.  The Union Bar’s “Diet Burger” was among more than 2,100 nominations made through online voting at the Nebraska Beef Council website last month.

The other finalists are the Haystack Burger from Dinker’s Bar in Omaha, the Greta Burger from Greta’s Gourmet in Lincoln, the Joseph Angus Burger from the Peppermill & E-K Valentine Lounge in Valentine and the Triple “B” Burger from Tommy Colina’s Kitchen in Omaha.

A panel of anonymous judges will evaluate each of the finalists at its home restaurant based on taste, proper cooking and appearance. The winner will be announced at the end of the month and be recognized by the beef industry as part of Nebraska Beef Month in May.
