Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts, as part of a sweeping tour of the state, visited Chadron and Alliance Thursday for a Town Hall Forum. The Alliance event was held at the Knight Museum and Sandhills Center.
Questions posed by attendees during the one-hour program spanned a wide array of subjects, including the Keystone XL Pipeline, same sex marriage, financial benefits for elderly Nebraskans, and ground water concerns.
An audience member’s question to the Governor about legalizing medicinal marijuana in Nebraska led to a lively discussion which included comments from other audience members. Gov. Ricketts stated that he felt more research needed to be done on the true benefits of the drug for medicinal purposes before discussion on legalization could move forward.
