A two-vehicle accident late Friday afternoon at the junction of Highway 92 and Stegall Road near Lyman claimed the lives of an engaged couple from Colorado Springs, Colo.
Scotts Bluff County Attorney Doug Warner says the victims were identified as 68-year old Jimmie Skinner and 67-year old Patricia Timerman
Warner says the couple was northbound on Stegall Road with Skinner driving when he failed stop at the stop sign at the highway and were hit by an eastbound car driven by 30-year old Zacharie Hays of Gering.
Timerman died at the scene and Skinner after being transported to Regional West Medical Center. Hays was also taken to Regional West Medical Center, but information on his injuries and condition has not been released.
Warner says Skinner and Timerman were en route to Sioux County to visit Timerman’s son, and were to meet him in Mitchell.
The son told authorities had called him from LaGrange, Wyo, and when they failed to arrive as planned he became worried and followed emergency vehicles to the accident scene.
