Former Hemingford Police Chief Mark Lindburg has been charged with felony sexual assault of a child and felony child abuse.

Charges filed in Box Butte County Court by special prosecutor John Freudenberg of the Nebraska Attorney General’s office state that Lindburg allegedly had sex with a 15-year-old girl during calendar year 2010.

Judge Russ Harford set bond at $100,000.

Lindburg is scheduled to appear in county court Thursday.

He served as the Hemingford Police Chief for five years from 2006 to 2011. He also was employed as a Box Butte County Deputy Sheriff for seven years.
