KCOW news as learned that former Alliance and Chadron businessman Martin Marnett died over the weekend following a motorcycle accident.

Friends of the Marnetts have informed KCOW that he was traveling between his home in Basalt, Colorado and Gunnison, Colorado when the motorcycle he was operating left the road. Marnett was alone on the bike.

He was taken to a Denver hospital where he was pronounced dead.

KCOW news is seeking more information from the Colorado State Patrol.

Martin and his wife, Marcella, owned and operated the McDonald’s Restaurants in Alliance and Chadron for several years. They moved from Alliance to Colorado roughly five years ago.

Marnett has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
