Memorial services for Eileen M. Newblom of Gering, Nebraska formerly of Chadron, NE were

held on July 13, 2015 at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron at 11:00 AM with Dr. Reverend Mark

Crist officiating. Inurnment was at Greenwood Cemetery.

Eileen M. Newblom, 91, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015 at Regional West Medical Center,

Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

Eileen was born May 11, 1924 in Marquette, Nebraska. She grew up and attended high school in

Grand Island where she was recognized as salutatorian of her class. She was united in marriage

to Vernon C. Newblom on November 11, 1945. They moved to Denver, Colorado where they

lived for a short time and then moved to the Hay Springs area and farmed. They later moved to

Chadron where Eileen worked as a bookkeeper for several area businesses until she retired. She

continued to reside in Chadron until just five years ago when she moved to the

Scottsbluff/Gering area until her death.

She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Social Sorority. She loved music, dancing, and playing

bridge. Eileen became an accomplished artist and enjoyed sharing her art with family and

friends. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and took great pleasure spending

time with family and friends.

Survivors include: daughter Janelle Ferguson (Dwight Achtenberg), Seattle, WA; daughter

Dianne (Glen) Lore, Gering, NE; and son Bob (Jane) Newblom, Westfield, IN. Five

grandchildren: Travis (Angie) Lore, Elizabeth, CO; Brian (Tonya) Lore, Olathe, KS; Jessica

Newblom, Indianapolis, IN; Abe (Mary) Newblom, Arvada, CO; and Sam Newblom, Westfield,

IN. She also has five great grandchildren: Cooper and Miles Lore, Chloe and Madeline Lore,

and Louise Newblom.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
