Eagles Sign Five Players to Volleyball Squad

The Chadron State College volleyball team signed five student-athletes to National Letters of Intent this spring, head coach Chris Wells announced Thursday. According to Shaun Wicen with the Chadron State Sports Information Office they are Rachel Guiberson, MacKenzie McGill, McKenna McClintic, Madison Webb and Dacia Stuhr.

Guiberson is a 5-foot-10 outside hitter from Fort Collins High School in Fort Collins, Colorado. She accumulated over 400 kills in two years, and as a senior, she put down over 250 kills and had a hitting percentage just under .250. Guiberson played well all-around, serving 24 aces while adding 15 blocks and over 150 digs.

“Rachel plays on the same elite club team with Madison and has tremendous athletic upside,” Wells said. “She gives us incredible depth at the outside hitter position and hits a heavy ball and blocks big, which is critical in the RMAC. She was an instant fit with this team and with weight room training will be a force.”

McGill is a 5-9 right side hitter from Pine Creek High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In her final two seasons, she accumulated 44 kills, 89 digs and six blocks. She is also a good server, putting down 25 aces in two seasons.

“She plays outside for her club team and is a defensive presence with advanced ball control,” Wells said. “She’s highly competitive with great internal drive. We feel Kenzie will give us the balance we need to be highly efficient offensively.”

McClintic of Burwell, Nebraska, is a 5-10 right side hitter from Burwell High School. During her junior season she played all-around, putting down 118 blocks, 244 kills, 210 digs, as well as 216 assists. She had a .324 hitting percentage and also served 18 aces. She was named First Team All-Conference three times as well as receiving an honorable mention by the Omaha World-Herald.

McClintic also was a solid basketball player, averaging over 14 points per game and almost eight rebounds.

“McClintic plays both outside hitter positions and she comes from highly athletic family that understands competition and rises to the occasion,” Wells said. “Her intensity will add to our already highly competitive culture in the gym and will raise it to an even higher level.”

Webb led Resurrection Christian High School in Loveland, Colorado, to two undefeated seasons and two state titles. The 5-8 setter was named a Prep Volleyball High School All-American her senior season and is ranked as one of the top 325 players in the nation. She had 50 aces, 152 digs and 848 assists in her final season.

Webb started all four years for Resurrection Christian, amassing over 3,500 assists, 626 digs and 163 aces in her career. She has named the Reporter-Herald Volleyball Player of the Year her junior and senior seasons. In her junior year, the team went 29-0 on their way to the 2A state title, losing only seven sets the entire season and finishing as the second-ranked team in Colorado across all divisions.

“Madison plays in an elite club program that has prepared her to play at the collegiate level. Her improvement over the past year has been huge. Madison comes from a very successful high school program so she understands what it takes to be successful. She’s a great leader who will be a force in the RMAC,” Wells said.

Stuhr is a 5-11 outside hitter from York, Nebraska. During her senior season she led the team with 255 kills, 44 aces, 67 blocks and 307 digs. She had a hitting percentage of .237 while playing middle, but will switch to outside hitter for Chadron State. In her final two seasons she had more than 450 kills, 150 blocks, 77 aces and 485 digs. She was named First Team All-Central Conference as well as All-State honorable mention by the Lincoln Journal Star and Omaha World-Herald.

“Dacia is phenomenally athletic and can play multiple positions due to her athleticism,” Wells said. “We feel she has a very high ceiling for improvement, as well as being a great team player that will do whatever needed to help her team be successful.”

The Chadron State College volleyball team has inked 10 student-athletes this year. Mackenzie Chrisman and Timmi Keisel of Sterling, Colo., Kelsey Hendrickson of Rapid City, S.D., Casper College transfer Kiarra Johnson of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Hannah McCrimmon of Loveland, Colo., all signed during an earlier signing period. Both Johnson and McCrimmon attended Chadron in the spring.
