EAGLES RUN WELL AT REGIONAL MEET

DENVER – Both the Chadron State College men’s and women’s cross country teams wrapped up their seasons in a successful fashion Saturday at the NCAA Division II South Central Region Cross Country Championships hosted by Regis University.

The Chadron State women finished 18th out of 24 teams and the Eagles’ men were 19th out of 22 teams.

The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference dominated the team standings. Adams State, Western State and the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs went 1-2-3 in the women’s division, while Adams State, Western State and Colorado School of Mines took the top three spots on the men’s side.

Adams State also had both individual champions. Alicia Nelson was the top women’s finisher in 21:44 and Kevin Batt won the men’s race in 32:09.

Ashley Riesen led the Chadron State women with by finishing in 44th place with a time of 24:05 in the women’s 6K.

Also for the CSC women, Jayme Nunes finished in 25:28, Becca Volf wasn’t far behind in 25:56, Miranda Karn timed in 26:06 and Ashley Appelt rounded out the team’s score with 27:11.

Nathan Faulkner led the Chadron State men with a time of 37:18 and Simon Gudeta wasn’t far behind in 37:49.

Also for CSC, Michael Steube (38:08), Domingo Torres (38:56) and Jake Moore (40:44) added to the team’s total.
