Eagles finish eighth at Maverick Spring Invitational

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Chadron State College golf team finished eighth at the Maverick Spring Invitational at Redlands Mesa Golf Club in Grand Junction, Colorado with a combined total of 729 strokes. The Eagles close out their season in Phoenix, Arizona at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference meet Monday and Tuesday.

Schuyler Wetzel paced the way for Chadron State, finishing 27th overall with a combined score of 175. Wetzel finished day two with an 87, one stroke better than her day one score. Emma Harris finished 30th overall with an 89 day two score to combine for 179.

Also for CSC, Kelli Haynes matched her first day score of 94 for a 188 combined score, while Mikayla Gallagher shot a 195 and Karson Langley had a 197 overall.

Metro State University won the team title with a combined 617, shooting 13 strokes better than all teams on day two. MSU Denver’s Cha Cha Willhoite and Nathalie Gallacher tied for first with a combined 144. Gallacher shot one under par on day two to lead the field with a 71.
