Douglas H. Johnson, 56, passed from this life on Monday, February 4th, 2013 at University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora after an extended illness.
Doug was born February 22, 1956 in Gordon, Nebraska to Harland and Lois Johnson and moved to Alliance shortly thereafter. He graduated from Alliance High School in 1974. On September 13, 1980, Doug married the love of his life, Dianne L. Nielsen in Alliance. To this union, two beautiful daughters were born, Jamie and Kayla. After being employed in the auto parts industry for 32 years, he became a conductor for BNSF in February of 2006.
Doug was an amazing man who was soft spoken, but whose heart was full of meaningful words and much love for his family and friends. He was creative and enjoyed working on various projects in his shop. He also enjoyed cooking, riding motorcycles with his buddies, and spending time with his friends at the cabin. Two of the proudest moments of his life were the births of his granddaughters, Anistyn and Elizabeth.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne; daughters and sons-in-law Jamie & Matthew Pope of Colorado Springs, CO and Kayla & Cody Green of Sidney, NE; granddaughters, Anistyn Green and Elizabeth Pope.
He is also survived by his parents, Harland and Lois of Chadron; and sisters, Shirley (Richard) Sellman of Chadron, and Sharon (Terry) Starke of Alliance, NE.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 9th, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, 1024 Box Butte Avenue in Alliance. The Reverend Martin T. Schnare and Reverend Richard C. Mueller will officiate.
A memorial will be designated at a later date.
