Dorothy Dufek, 94, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Highland Park Care Center in Alliance.
Dorothy J. (Codr) Dufek was born on December 25, 1921 to Frank and Mary (Foltyn) Codr in Lynwood, Nebraska. She moved with her family to Hemingford when she was four years old.
Dorothy and John Dufek were married May 25, 1943 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Hemingford. John and Dorothy were farmers north of Hemingford until they moved to town in 1975. John preceded her in death on October 30, 1983.
Dorothy is survived by her three children, David (Norma) of Lander, Wyoming, Robert (Marlene) of Lincoln, Nebraska and Janice (Don) Smith of Port Angeles, Washington. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Josef (Carol Paty) Dufek, Eric (Jill Stensby) Dufek, Robert (Ann) Dufek, Michelle (Kelly) Barmore, Lisa Beuck, Dan (Kathy) Smith, Jason (Joannie) Smith and Jennie (Tim) Wilson. 20 Great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren also survive her, as well as cousins and friends.
Dorothy worked for many years for Cullan Farms. Her interests included RSVP, Box Butte General Hospital Auxiliary, and St. Bridget’s Alter Society. She was also active in St. Bridget’s Catholic Church. In her younger years one of her pleasures was dancing and listening to Czech music.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, brother Edmund Codr, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, November 16 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Hemingford with Father Roy Pasala officiating. Burial will be in the Hemingford Cemetery. Wake services will be Tuesday, November 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the church.
Memorials can be given to the Hemingford Volunteer Fire Department, St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, Prairie Haven Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice.
