DISTURBING THE PEACE COMPLAINT LEADS TO CHILD ABUSE CHARGE

HANDCUFFSA Chadron woman is in jail for felony child abuse after allegedly hitting a juvenile with a baseball bat.

Police first made contact with 31-year old Natachi Burns Prairie about 4:30 Tuesday afternoon on a disturbance complaint and took her into custody on 2 misdemeanors…criminal mischief and disturbing the peace.

In the subsequent investigation, however, officers learned of the alleged bat incident, recovered an aluminum bat from the home, and added the felony child abuse charge to the list facing Burns Prairie.

She remains in custody awaiting a preliminary hearing in Dawes County Court, but no hearing date has been set yet.
