CSC TO CROWN FIRST RODEO QUEEN SINCE 1974

NIRA - celebrateWhen Chadron State College hosts its annual collegiate rodeo in September, the event will have a Miss CSC Rodeo for the first time in 40 years. The rodeo will be the weekend of September 21 during CSC’s Family Day weekend.

Coordinator of Student Activities Laure Sinn, chair of the rodeo queen committee, says the crowning will take place on Saturday the 21st.

CSC Vice President of Enrollment Management and Marketing John Hanson says Miss CSC Rodeo was brought back as another way to get more students involved in college activities.

“Traditionally, we have a number of students enrolled at CSC who have earned recognition as rodeo queens in their local communities and this will give them an opportunity to continue with this interest.”

A search of yearbooks has yielded the names of only 9 queens between 1959 and 1974. Karen Pope in the CSC Alumni Office is trying to compile a full list of past CSC rodeo queens and encourages alumni and friends to forward any names and pictures.
