CHADRON – Chadron State gave #1 ranked Metro State all it could handle Friday at Armstrong Gymnasium, but  in the end, it wasn’t enough as the Roadrunners took a 63-51 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference loss.

Metro State (17-0, 13-0 RMAC) has beaten all but two opponents by double-digits this year and built a 15 margin on the Eagles with 7:34 to go, but CSC cut the deficit to only 3 with just under 4:00 remaining before Metro pulled away down the stretch. The 12 win matches their third-closest game this season.

Preseason Conference Player of the Year Jonathon Morse led Metro State with 16 points on five of 10 shooting with four rebounds. Morse was the only Metro State player to finish in double digits.

Chadron State was led by Grant Stone, who finished with 11 points, including three 3-point field goals. Zac Bargen and Kyle Vinich chipped in with 10 points apiece,  David Downey added 9 and Justyn Anderson had a team-high 3 assists.

Chadron State concludes a 4-game home stand tonight (Saturday) against Regis University, the only team they’ve beaten this year. Tip-off is schedule for 8 p.m.
