The  Chadron State College Jazz Band and Vocal Jazz ensemble wrap up their year Tuesday night, April 23, with a free concert at 7:30 in Memorial Hall.

Pieces for the concert come from such diverse sources as  Sting, Stephen Sondheim, the Jackson Five, and Count Basie with the Jazz Band offering music from the 20’s, 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s.

Members of the Vocal Jazz Ensemble are Zachary Banzhaf, Sarah Hammer Zachary Henderson, Joelle Keith, Brendan Mead, Lauren Morris, Derek Phelps, Scott Reffert, Arielle Tiensvold and Jacob Wirth…accompanied by a combo of  Tanner Johns on guitar, Conrad Gachne on bass, Brooks Hafey on piano and Dr. Sandy Schaefer on drums.

The Jazz Band has Tess Grebner, Drew Kasch, Alesha Siebe, and Sean DeHaven on tenor or alto saxophone…Katie Whalen on clarinet and baritone sax, and Jacob Wirth, Curtis Stevens, Lane Swedberg and Andy Martin.

The trombone section is made up of Nathan Snyder, A-J Maser and Zach Kirchmeyer…Tommy Miller is on tuba with Conrad Gachne and Michael Mead on bass…and Tanner Johns and Thomas Frear on guitar. Frear will also join Kaleb Britton and Emily Lisko on percussion with Amy Graham and Derek Phelps both on piano
