LITTLETON, Colo. – The Chadron State College women’s golf team opened its fall season with an 11th place finish at the Colorado Christian Invitational Monday and Tuesday at the Raccoon Creek Golf Course in Littleton, Colorado.

The Eagles cut 22 strokes from their first round score, when their 364 had them in 12th place, with a 342 during Tuesday’s final 18 holes to finish at 706.

Metro State won the 13-team tournament with a 36-hole score of 614, topping Regis by 13 and Colorado State-Pueblo by 18. The Eagles finished 7 strokes behind Black Hills, 7 strokes ahead of South Dakota Mines, and 22 strokes in front of Fort Lewis…who cut 54 strokes from its first round score of 391.

Hee-Leina Kim of Colorado State-Pueblo ran away with the individual crown, following up her first round 67 with a 73 to win by 11 strokes at 151. Schuyler Wetzel was CSC’s top finisher, tying for 27th at 164 after shooting 83 Monday and 81 Tuesday.

Emma Harris ended 87-85-172 while Kelli Haynes shot an 87-86 173. The other 3 Eagles finished well back…Mikayla Gallagher at 197, Karson Langley 211, and Danielle Brennan shot 217.

The next action for Chadron State will be next Monday and Tuesday as they host a two-day tournament. Full tournaments must be at 18-hole courses, so the event will be in Hot Springs at the Southern Hills Golf Course.
