Highway 20 about 8 miles east of Harrison was closed for around an hour New Year’s evening by a 2-vehicle accident that sent two people to different hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
The Nebraska State Patrol says 33-year old Robert Fox of Texas was eastbound in a pickup about 7:20 pm when he crossed the center line of Highway 20 and struck a westbound SUV driven by 19-year old Kaitelyn Woodrum of Harrison nearly head-on.
The patrol says the pickup went into the north ditch, then on into a field while the SUV remained on the pavement. The highway was closed about an hour by the investigation and cleanup.
Fox, who was not using his seat belt, was taken to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Woodrum was using her seat belt and was taken to Chadron Community Hospital. A passenger with Woodrum, who was also wearing a seat belt, refused treatment at the scene.
