CARRIE UNDERWOOD ON COUNTRY HALL OF FAME CHANCES

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Carrie Underwood may someday be a shoo-in for the Country Music Hall of Fame — if her career continues on its current track. But she says right now, she’s just happy that she has some of her stuff at the hall’s museum.

Underwood says she’s honored to have a dress among items belonging to icons like Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn.

Underwood is one of the acts taking part in a benefit to support renovations to the Country Music Hall. Vince Gill says the refurbishing of the Nashville auditorium is not just something to give a nod to country’s past, but also is an investment in its future.

POLICE ARREST SUSPECT IN SCOTTY McCREERY ROBBERY

RALEIGH, N.C. r (AP) — Police in Raleigh, North Carolina, have arrested a suspect in the home invasion robbery of country singer Scotty McCreery and his friends.

Police say 19-year-old old Mikkail Jamal Shaw has been charged with armed robbery and conspiracy after he turned himself in Tuesday night. It wasn’t clear if he has an attorney.

In a statement, police spokesman Jim Sughrue says police are looking for other suspects.

Officers were called to an apartment near North Carolina State University where McCreery is a sophomore early Monday. Police said McCreery was visiting the apartment when three armed men broke in and took wallets, cash and electronics. No one was hurt.

The 20-year-old McCreery won TV’s “American Idol” in 2011 and was named best new artist at the Academy of Country Music Awards the next year.
