The City of Alliance received notification from Kari Ruse, Nebraska Department of Transportation that the City has been awarded the grant funding to assume responsibility for the Box Butte County Public Transit Program effective July 1, 2015.

“I am glad the City was able to get the award and hopefully we will be able to live up to a higher standard and will be able to serve all the people of Alliance when they need the service. We hope to provide weekend service soon. If you have any good ideas to improve the Public Transit Program, please let us know,” said Mayor Ralph Yeager. The City will begin advertising immediately for drivers and services will expand as staff levels increase.

City Manager J.D. Cox commented, “We are hopeful that current Public Transit drivers will join our organization so that we can provide the best service possible.”
