With summer quickly coming to an end the Chadron Police Department would like to pass on some friendly reminders before the start of the 2015-2016 school year. Students will return to Chadron Public Schools on Wednesday August 19th. Please be aware this will bring an increase of foot and vehicular traffic. There will also be an increased number of young drivers and new drivers in our community.
The increased amount of foot traffic will come in the form of students walking to and from school and also during their lunch hour. State Law requires that the driver of a vehicle must yield right of way to pedestrians in crosswalks. Please allow them to cross the street safely.
Be aware of the increased number of young and new drivers in our community. Chadron can be a difficult place to drive at times, due to all the one way streets and unmarked intersections. When you are going through these areas, and especially around the Public Schools, give yourself a little extra time and take a second look. If you know you will be traveling through these areas plan accordingly and give yourself some extra time. And as always please remember to always wear your seatbelt.
Let’s make this a safe, educational and enjoyable school year. If you have any questions reference to the Chadron Public Schools please contact School Resource Officer Aron Chrisman 205 at (308)432-0510 email [email protected].
