The Chadron Nationals are in tonight’s (Tuesday) Legion Baseball B7 Senior District Championship needing two wins to advance to State. The Nats will play Ogallala at 5:00, and with a victory will have a winner-take-all chance to score the District crown in game two.
Chadron kept its season alive with a 9-5 win over Gering on Monday night in Sidney, overcoming an early deficit with help from the bat of Jayden Stack. He went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs, including a two-RBI double as part of Chadron’s six-run second inning that saw the Nationals erase a 3-1 deficit and create a 7-3 lead.
Cody Ray and Jackson Dickerson each had two RBIs while Colby Ellis drove in a run to help his own cause on the pitching hill. Ellis went five innings for the win and was able to battle through seven walks before giving the mound to Coy Bila for a hitless final two innings. Gering left 13 men on base.
Chadron and Ogallala have only played one time this summer – a 7-6 Chadron win at the Alliance Tournament back in June. Stack was the offensive star with a four-RBI day.
