“We are so pleased to receive this grant again this year from the Susan G. Komen Nebraska. As we all know, living in rural Nebraska you may have to travel long distances to receive treatment or to see your cancer physician. This means added expenses, while a lot of times patients are missing work, or living on a fixed income. These funds allow us to give a financial helping hand to these patients to help with Medical, Travel or Living expenses,” Jodi Dannar, Co-Chairman.
Since its founding more than two decades ago, Susan G. Komen® Nebraska has provided more than $6.5 million in education and breast health programs throughout Nebraska. It serves a 91-county area in Nebraska, excluding Dakota and Thurston counties which are supported by another Komen affiliate. Up to 75 percent of net proceeds generated by Komen Nebraska fund community-based programs and the remaining proceeds fund groundbreaking national research.
