The Chadron boys basketball team split a pair of games over the weekend. They won their home opener Friday 55-35 over Gordon-Rushville, then falling Saturday at Torrington 56-51. The Cardinals are now 2-3 on the year.
The Gordon-Rushville game was all Chadron from the beginning, as the Cardinals jumped out to a 13 – 2 lead and never looked back. They kept the lead at 11 at halftime 23 – 12, and pushed it to 40-26 at the end of the third quarter.
Spencer Eiliason and Cy Rayhill led the Cardinals in scoring with 14 points apiece. Bo Westlake had 9 while Von Sayaloune scored 8. For Gordon-Rushville, Trevor Standing Soldier scored 22 points of the Mustangs 35 points.
In the Torrington game, Chadron fell behind early trailed 35 – 19 at halftime. The Cardinals rallied after the break, but fell short as they lost by 5.
Chadron Boys and Girls will play at Hot Springs tonight, Monday December 10th.
