WINEHOUSE WEDDING DRESS STOLEN FROM SINGER’S HOME

LONDON (AP) — Amy Winehouse’s charity says two of the late singer’s dresses — including her wedding dress — are missing and believed stolen from her former London home.

The Amy Winehouse Foundation said Thursday the dress Winehouse wore for her 2006 Miami wedding to Blake Fielder-Civil and a newsprint cocktail dress she wore during a British TV appearance are both missing. The presumed theft was discovered during an inventory.

The wedding dress was to have been auctioned off for the charity, established to help young people overcome addiction.

The singer’s father, Mitch Winehouse, told the Evening Standard it was “sickening that someone would steal something in the knowledge of its sentimental value.”

Winehouse, the Grammy-winning “Back to Black” singer, died from alcohol poisoning on July 23, 2011, at the age of 27.

The Walt Disney Co. announced the agreement to make the purchase in cash and stock Tuesday. Disney added that “Star Wars Episode 7” is scheduled for release in 2015.

‘SKYFALL’ OPENS WITH SKY-HIGH BOX OFFICE

James Bond Skyfall PosterLONDON (AP) — James Bond rules the box office — though he has failed to dethrone Harry Potter.

Producers say the new Bond adventure, “Skyfall,” has had the second-biggest opening weekend in British movie history, taking 20.1 million pounds ($32 million) at the U.K. box office.

That is the biggest opening weekend for any of the 23 Bond films, and ranks just behind last year’s final Potter movie, “Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows — Part 2,” which took 23 million pounds in its first weekend in Britain.

“Skyfall” opened this weekend in 25 global markets, taking in a total of $77.7 million between Friday and Sunday.

The film, which stars Daniel Craig as agent 007 and Javier Bardem as a villain bent on revenge, opens in the United States on Nov. 9.

GREEN DAY CANCELS 2012 DATES, POSTPONES ’13 START

Green Day

(AP) — Green Day is canceling the rest of its 2012 club schedule and is postponing the start of the 2013 arena tour.

Bass player Mike Dirnt says Billie Joe Armstrong’s “well-being is our main concern” in the band’s decision to clear the schedule through Feb 8.

He says in a statement Monday that Armstrong is doing well in his attempt to shake substance abuse problems that emerged publicly in September when the singer-guitarist had a profane meltdown on the stage of the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.

The Grammy-winning punks also moved up the release date of “Tre,” the third installment in a trilogy of albums released over a period of months. The album will be released Dec. 11, more than a month ahead of schedule.

‘ARGO’ TOPS THE BOX OFFICE

LOS ANGELES (AP) – The new number-one movie isn’t a new movie. Ben Affleck’s “Argo” climbs to the top spot — after three weeks in theaters. The story of the rescue of American hostages in Iran in the late 70s takes in nearly $12 and a-half million dollars.

“Hotel Transylvania” is second.

“Cloud Atlas” has a disappointing opening weekend. Tom Hanks and Halle Berry are among the stars. But the movie, with an estimated 100 million dollar budget, only manages a third-place debut.

CLACKSON GRAND MARSHAL FOR PRE-MARDI GRAS PARADE

Kelly Clarkson

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Pop star Kelly Clarkson will ride as celebrity grand marshal when the Krewe of Endymion parade rolls on the Saturday before Mardi Gras in 2013.

AMC’S ‘WALKING DEAD’ WALKS TALL, WITH 9.5M VIEWERS

Walking Dead Rick Grimes Season 3

NEW YORK (AP) — In an illustration of how the television world is changing, the hottest drama this fall is on cable.

AMC’s creepy “The Walking Dead” pulled in 9.5 million viewers for its first showing on Sunday. It was the second episode of the show’s third season. A week ago nearly 11 million people watched the season premiere of the show, about a sheriff’s deputy fighting zombie-like people.

The network airs a new episode three times on Sunday night. The Nielsen ratings company says a total of 14 million people watched at least one of them this week.

The most-watched drama on broadcast TV last week was “Person of Interest” on CBS. It had just under 14 million viewers. It was even more dominant among the 18-to-49-year-old demographic, which advertisers crave.
