GRAMMY AUDIENCE

GrammysNEW YORK (AP) — This year’s Grammy ratings were good — but down from last year. The Nielsen figures show more than 28 million people watched the awards show Sunday night on CBS.

That’s the second-largest audience for the Grammys since 1993. But it’s way down from last year, when just under 40 million people tuned in for the awards.

Last year’s Grammys came just after Whitney Houston’s death. The awards were dominated by Adele that year, who won six Grammys.

NEW YORK (AP) – This year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model is — Kate Upton. Again. Upton repeats on the S-I cover for the second straight year.

The 2013 S-I Swimsuit cover was unveiled on David Letterman’s show last night. Letterman also had 10 models from the issue doing his Top 10 List: Questions on the application to become a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model.

Of course, Upton had the number-one question: “Where’s the strangest place you found sand?”

The cover shot was taken in Antarctica, with Upton wearing only a white, fur-lined parka and a bikini bottom. She says it’s the most she’s wearing in the whole issue. The 50th anniversary S-I Swimsuit issue goes on sale today.

CARRIE UNDERWOOD – WHAT’S UP WITH THAT DRESS?

carrie underwood grammy dress

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Carrie Underwood just won another Grammy, but the question everyone is asking her: how did her dress work? Underwood performed “Blown Away” on the Grammys in a silver dress that started drawing curly designs across the front, then sparkles, then hearts that fell into petals and a monarch butterfly.

Underwood says the trick was a projector and a specially-made dress that acted as a screen. She jokes she wants to take the dress home so she can watch movies on it. Underwood won the best country solo Grammy for “Blown Away,” and that song also won the country song Grammy.

GOTYE AND KIMBRA WIN RECORD OF THE YEAR

Gotye & Kimbra

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Gotye says Kimbra is what made “Somebody That I Used To Know” come together. He says he searched for six months before finding Kimbra as his guest vocalist.

The song won Record of the Year at the Grammys. Kimbra says what she loved about the song was that it was raw emotion with no beating around the bush. Gotye says he sometimes feels self-conscious about the attention that song got.

He says it’s a song about confusion and negativity but some have turned it into an anthem. “Somebody That I Used To Know” also won the Grammy for pop/duo performance, and Gotye won the alternative album Grammy.
