“THE VOICE”
LOS ANGELES (AP) – Blake Shelton’s steal wasn’t successful. Both Shelton and Cee Lo Green tried to “steal” indie rocker Caitlin Michele on last night’s edition of “The Voice.” The new twist in the series this season is that coaches can pick up singers dropped from other teams. Team Adam let Caitlin go, leading to Green and Shelton attempting to add her to their teams. Shelton tried to convince Caitlin that he had insight into singers with a unique talent. But Green went a step further, telling her his middle name was “Unique.” Caitlin turns down Team Shelton to hitch a ride with Team CeeLo.

BRIAN WILSON RESPONDS TO MIKE LOVE’S COMMENTS ON BEACH BOYS REUNION

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Mike Love has said he didn’t fire Brian Wilson from The Beach Boys. Wilson says it sort of feels like he did. Wilson writes in the Los Angeles Times they’ve had several offers to continue their reunion tour, and since it’s been fun, why wouldn’t they want to continue. Love had said they had only intended to do a certain number of shows, and he had planned for a Beach Boys tour after the reunion tour that only featured himself and Bruce Johnston. Wilson says they never discussed the offers that came in once the reunion was underway. He says he still loves Love and he welcomes a call from him.

LED ZEPPELIN SHOOT DOWN REUNION TALK

NEW YORK (AP) – Jimmy Page says if Led Zeppelin didn’t reunite in the five years since the “Celebration Day” concert, why does anyone think they’re going to do it now? Page says that show was so good because they had no warm-up gig and they knew they had to get it right the first time. Robert Plant says they were so happy they got it right because they were hanging on for dear life. Plant says doing one show is fun, but “the responsibility of doing that four nights a week for the rest of time is a different thing.” “Celebration Day,” based on their 2007 reunion show in London, will be in theaters October 17, then released on DVD in November.

PETER CRISS OPENS UP ABOUT ATTEMPTED SUICIDE

NEW YORK (AP) – Peter Criss of Kiss knows what a .357 Magnum tastes like — because he shoved the barrel of one down his throat in a suicide attempt. Rolling Stone has published an excerpt from his upcoming autobiography, “Makeup to Breakup: My Life In and Out of Kiss.” Criss writes it was 1994 and he felt like a has-been, with two failed marriages, a floundering career and hardly any money. Then the Northridge earthquake hit Southern California and destroyed what little he had. Criss says that’s when he decided to kill himself. In the rubble of his apartment, with the gun in his mouth, he saw the photo of his daughter was not damaged. That’s when he decided life was worth living. “Makeup to Breakup” comes out October 23.

TODAY’S BEST COUNTRY NEWS: 10/9/12

‘THE VOICE’
LOS ANGELES (AP) – Blake Shelton was caught stealing last night. But he’s not in trouble with the law. There’s a new wrinkle this season on “The Voice.” It’s the steal. Once a singer is dropped from a team, the other judges can pick them up. That happened twice on last night’s show. Team Blake picked up Collin McLoughlin after he was dropped by Team Adam. Adam Levine also picked up a singer dropped by Cee Lo Green. Tonight on The Voice, more of the battle round.

She tweeted that she felt like she got hit in the right side of her face with a baseball bat and calls it the “WORST way ever to kick off a tour.” The illness forced her to postpone a show. Rimes blogged that she’s been dealing with painful dental issues for 10 months, but she’s getting back on track.

JERROD NIEMANN WANTS FANS TO ‘FREE THE MUSIC’
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – The title of Jerrod Niemann’s new album, “Free The Music,” has different meanings. Neimann says for him, it was about freeing his mind in the studio, but for fans, he hopes the music frees them from their job, school, ex-boyfriend-girlfriend-wife or whatever it may be. Niemann studied country music history and used old school sounds like horns throughout his album.

EDENS EDGE SINGER MARRIES
UNDATED (AP) – The lead singer of Edens Edge is a married woman. Hannah Blaylock tied the knot with Justin Wakefield during a quiet ceremony in the band’s home state of Arkansas. They exchanged vows under a White Oak tree decorated with fisherman’s rope and glass floats from Alaska, where Blaylock grew up. She walked down the aisle to a song her brother wrote about his wife called “Falling Over You.” The newlyweds are taking some time for a honeymoon before Edens Edge joins the Rascal Flatts “Changed tour.”

KOOL AND THE GANG STILL CELEBRATING

WASHINGTON (AP) – Robert Bell of Kool and the Gang says he never thought the group would get as much mileage as it did out of the song “Celebration.” But he notes that recently it was used by NASA as part of the final space shuttle flight. Bell says the hit has surpassed the group’s expectations by far. But Bell reminds people it isn’t the group’s only hit – and songs like “Jungle Boogie” and “Summer Madness” are still very popular, too.

NEIL YOUNG’S AUTOBIOGRAPHY SKIPS CHRONOLOGY

NEW YORK (AP) – You might read a rock biography that starts at the beginning and continues chronologically. Neil Young’s autobiography doesn’t do that. Young says if you have a conversation with people, it isn’t always linear. He says they might be distracted by something outside the window, so he thought that was a natural way to write his book. Young says his whole idea was that it would be off the top of his head and he would not spend any time organizing anything, because that’s worked for him on everything else he’s done. The book is called “Waging Heavy Peace” and it’s out now.
