All are also up for awards.

Minaj is the night’s leading nominee, along with Rihanna, with four bids each. Swift is nominated for favorite female country artist and Linkin Park is in the running for alternative artist.

BRITNEY SPEARS TRIAL

Sam Lutif with Britney SpearsLOS ANGELES (AP) — The man who presided over Britney Spears’ life during her well-publicized meltdown has portrayed himself in court as a benevolent personal manager who saved her from ruin.

Sam Lutfi was to finish his direct testimony Wednesday and face cross-examination by a battery of lawyers for the singer’s parents and conservators.

They are fighting a lawsuit by Lutfi, who claims he was defamed by Lynne Spears in her book about her daughter. He also says he was promised 15 percent of the millions of dollars Spears earned during their association.

Spears mother portrayed him as a Svengali-like figure preying on Britney’s vulnerabilities.

Lutfi says he was actually a peacemaker, reuniting Spears with her parents after a long estrangement. He says she implored him to become her personal manager.

SEATTLE MAN: “BILLY IDOL, COME TO MY BIRTHDAY PARTY OR I’LL BE DANCING WITH MYSELF!”

“Nice day for a…white dude’s birthday partyyyyy…”

SEATTLE (AP) – A Seattle man named Michael Henrichsen has ideas about how he might celebrate his 26th birthday this week.

First, Billy Idol rolls up in a limo and tells him to hop in. There are women everywhere. And later, when the British rock icon takes the stage, 1,800 of his closest friends go wild.

It’s not as far-fetched as it sounds. After a two-year campaign, Henrichsen has persuaded Idol to play his birthday party in Seattle on Friday night.

It took a lot of work. Henrichsen got a website, playmybirthdaybillyidol.com; got endorsements from B-list celebrities; and put on concerts dubbed “Billy Idol Aid” that raised more than $10,000 for a food bank and the American Red Cross.

Henrichsen says the party is going to be “pretty much the coolest night ever.”

TAYLOR SWIFT RELEASES ‘RED’
NASHVILLE, Tenn. She wrote 10 tracks by herself and six with other top songwriters. “Red” is out today.

He says he wanted to keep the vocals simple, with no harmonies, because the song has a lot going on musically. It uses French horns and other orchestral instruments.
