NICKI MINAJ NOT WORRIED ABOUT GRAMMY SNUB

B947_Nickie MinajNEW YORK (AP) — Nicki Minaj hardly is hurt about not being nominated for a Grammy this year. She got three nominations last year but was shut out this time around.

Minaj says she’s gotten tons of awards and when it’s time, she’ll get a Grammy. She says she thinks the Recording Academy had a reason for not nominating her and that’s just between her and it, but respects the Grammys and knows her time will come.

KESHA PLANS REALITY SHOW

KeshaNEW YORK (AP) — Kesha let her brother film everything she did for the past two years and now is letting him put it on TV. “Kesha: My Crazy Beautiful Life” will run as a series on MTV beginning in April.

Her brother, Lagan Sebert, had been working as a journalist and realized the most amazing story was happening in his own family. Kesha says the show will reveal a complete picture of what her life is really like and she adds it’s “not all glamorous, but it’s all real.”

TIM McGRAW TRADES DRINKING FOR WORKING OUT

Double Q Country_Tim McgrawNEW YORK (AP) — Tim McGraw quit drinking for his kids. McGraw tells People magazine he felt he didn’t have any moral high ground with his three daughters in the long run if he kept drinking.

McGraw quit five years ago and started working out instead. He says that’s great for his concerts because he hits the stage with his adrenaline going. McGraw’s album, “Two Lanes of Freedom,” is out Tuesday.

In 1956, 11-year-old Brenda Lee made her TV debut on ABC’s “Junior Ozark Jubilee.”

In 1970, bluesman Slim Harpo died of a heart attack in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was 46.

In 1978, saxophonist Greg Herbert of Blood, Sweat and Tears died of an accidental drug overdose in Amsterdam during the band’s European tour. He was 30.

In 1985, Barbara Cowsill, mother of the group The Cowsills, died in Arizona. She was 56.

In 1989, Playboy hit newsstands with nude photos of La Toya Jackson.

In 1993, Michael Jackson and 3,500 children performed during halftime at the Super Bowl. He sang a variety of his hits, including “Heal The World.” The game began with country star Garth Brooks singing the “Star-Spangled Banner.” Actress Marlee Matlin interpreted the song in sign language.

GARY ALLAN HITS NUMBER ONE

GaryAllanLOS ANGELES (AP) — Gary Allan has picked up his first number-one album. “Set You Free” sold 106,000 copies its first week out, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

That puts him on top of the Billboard album chart and on top of the country albums chart.

RIHANNA IS DATING CHRIS BROWN AGAIN

NEW YORK (AP) — b947 _ Rihanna says it was more important for her to be happy than to worry about her public image. That’s why she’s back with Chris Brown.

Rihanna tells Rolling Stone, “Even if it’s a mistake, it’s MY mistake.” She admits it’s “not the cutest puzzle in the world,” but their relationship is different now because they don’t argue like they once did.

Rihanna says Brown doesn’t have the luxury of messing up again, and if he does, she will walk. Brown pleaded guilty to assaulting Rihanna just before the 2009 Grammys.

ALLIANCE – Nine young ladies will vie for the titles of Miss Alliance’s/Miss Panhandle’s Outstanding Teen on February 3 at the Performing Arts Center.  Show time is 3:00 p.m. and doors will open to the public at 2:30 p.m.  Titleholders will have the chance to compete for the title of Miss Nebraska’s Outstanding Teen this summer in North Platte.

Contestants compete in five categories:  interview, physical fitness, talent, on-stage question and evening wear.  The teen pageant is open to all female Nebraska residents who are at least 13 years old and no older than 17 and in 11th grade.  The Outstanding Teen pageant is under the Nebraska Outstanding Teen Competition, which is held under the Miss America Organization.

Girls competing this year are:  Alexis McGlone of Mitchell, Flor Acosta of Alliance, Merilee Prill and Mariclaire Prill of Holdrege, Cherokee Purviance of Alliance, Sydney Corum of Alliance, Mikaela Hastings of Chadron, Jessica Helt of Gering and Shelbe Stroh of Omaha.

KENNY CHESNEY EARNS NEW GOLD AND PLATINUM RECORDS

kenny chesneyNASHVILLE (AP) — Kenny Chesney says he tries to record songs for “the people who don’t make the news, who don’t freak out or stand out.” Maybe that’s why people relate to his music enough to give him some new plaques for his wall.

His song “Come Over” and his “Greatest Hits 2” have been certified platinum. “The Good Stuff” and “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems” have been certified gold.

GRETCHEN WILSON PLANS THREE ALBUMS THIS YEAR

Gretchen WilsonNASHVILLE (AP) — Gretchen Wilson is ready to release a new album, and she’s already got the follow-up set to go, and the follow-up to the follow-up. Wilson will release a new studio album called “Right On Time” on April 2.

She will release an album of classic rock remakes called “Under The Covers” on May 28. Wilson will put out her first Christmas album in October.
