STEVIE NICKS DOCUMENTARY OUT NEXT MONTH

NEW YORK (AP) – Stevie Nicks keeps a white stallion in her backyard and likes costume parties and tap dancing. These are some of the things we learn about her in a new documentary, “In Your Dreams – Stevie Nicks.” The film follows her as she wrote her “In Your Dreams” album in 2010. Nicks called that “the best year of my life.” The film will premiere at the Hamptons Film Festival on October 7 and then tour other film festivals.

WHITNEY HOUSTON TO BE REMEMBERED IN CONCERT TV SPECIAL

NEW YORK (AP) - Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson and Usher will pay tribute to the late Whitney Houston in a one-hour TV special.

"We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute to Whitney Houston" will tape Oct. 11 at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live and will feature performances by Dion, Hudson and Usher. It will air Nov. 16 on CBS.

The Recording Academy announced Thursday that the special will also include Houston's "most memorable performances" and interviews with various artists. More performers will be announced.

Tickets for the event go on sale Thursday.

Houston died at age 48 in February. Authorities called her death an accidental drowning, complicated by heart disease and cocaine use.

The compilation album, "I Will Always Love You - The Best of Whitney Houston," will be released on Nov. 13.

JASON’S YOUTUBE FLASHBACK! 9/26/12

On this date back in 1962, “The Beverly Hillbillies” premiered on CBS.  The show ran for nine seasons and spawned two spinoffs–“Petticoat Junction” and “Green Acres”.

September 26th also happens to be the birthday of Donna Douglas, who played Jed’s daughter (and friend to all critters) Elly May.

JASON’S YOUTUBE FLASHBACK! 9/25/12

On this date in 1965, the “Beatles” Saturday morning cartoon series premiered on ABC.  Although the Fab Four’s music was used extensively in each episode, the voices of John, Paul, George and Ringo were supplied by actors.  In fact, two of the Beatles were voiced by Paul Frees, who also spoke for Boris Badenov, The Pilsbury Doughboy and Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion “ghost host.”

NEW YORK (AP) – Paul McCartney can play dozens of musical instruments, but he plays none of them on his new DVD. McCartney only sings on his “Live Kisses” concert film. His band consists of most of the same players from his “Kisses on the Bottom” album, including jazz musician Diana Krall. Joe Walsh is a guest musician. The concert was recorded at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles. Bonus material on the DVD includes an interview with McCartney, a behind-the-scenes look at his daughter shooting the “Kisses on the Bottom” cover, and six versions of the “My Valentine” music video. “Live Kisses” comes out November 13.

MARTINA MCBRIDE SURPRISED BY GREATEST HITS ALBUM

(AP) – That awkward moment when Martina McBride finds out on Twitter that her former label is releasing a greatest hits album of hers. McBride tweeted “Wow! Kinda sucks” that she got the news that way. The 40-song double disk comes out Oct. 22 through RCA Nashville. McBride says she’s not mad about it, but it “just would have been cool to get a phone call.” She says she hopes she at least gets a free copy.

KEITH URBAN, NICKI MINAJ NAMED NEW AMERICAN IDOL JUDGES

(AP)

The “American Idol” judges’ panel is now complete with the naming of singer-rapper Nicki Minaj and country crooner Keith Urban.

The Fox network officially tapped the pair with an announcement Sunday, confirming rumors surrounding them both just hours before the first round of auditions for next season was due to begin in New York.

Minaj is getting $12 million for a one-year deal on the hit Fox singing series, a person in the music industry with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on Sunday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss the deal.

A representative for Urban wouldn’t disclose the singer’s compensation for “Idol.”

The announcement also settled the status of Randy Jackson. He will stay put as the sole remaining original “Idol” judge, scotching rumors he might assume a different role on the popular talent competition.

This trio will join pop star Mariah Carey at a judges’ panel now expanded to four members from its previous three. The AP reported in July that Carey is receiving just shy of $18 million for a one-year contract with a renewal option.

KELLIE PICKLER SHAVES HEAD FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

Kellie Pickler has stood beside her best friend—a childhood friend who Pickler refers to as her “sister”—Summer Holt Miller throughout her breast cancer prognosis and subsequent treatment since receiving word of the diagnosis in June of this year, but yesterday in Nashville, Tenn., the inseparable duo took their stance against cancer one step further when they both buzzed their hair to bring awareness to the importance of early detection. As revealed on ABC’s Good Morning America exclusively, Pickler and Miller shared their story as Miller was just 36 years old when she received word of her diagnosis.

“Cancer does not discriminate,” an emphatic Pickler shared with viewers. “If this compels even one person to change their mentality toward waiting until the age of 40 for their mammogram, then it will be worth it,” Miller echoed.

Miller, aware of her family’s history of breast cancer, had always been super cautious with her self-examinations, but had the mother of two not been diligent with her doctor and requested a mammogram, the tumor detected in its early stage could have turned fatal. Miller recently underwent a double mastectomy and had just begun chemotherapy.
