BEATLES FAN HATRED MISDIRECTED! SORRY YOKO…

LONDON (AP) – Paul McCartney believes it’s someone besides Yoko Ono who should be blamed for the breakup of The Beatles. UK’s The Observer published an excerpt from an interview McCartney gave to David Frost in which he says Ono did not break up the band. McCartney says while he was uncomfortable with Ono sitting in on studio sessions, he feels John Lennon could not have written “Imagine” without her avant-garde influence. So who’s to blame? McCartney says it’s Allen Klein, the manager who took over after Brian Epstein died. He says Klein got them fighting with each other, and during the interview McCartney throws a mock punch at a photo of Klein.

Let it be, dude.

COCKROACHES INVADE PARIS!

PARIS (AP) – The Rolling Stones announced a surprise “warm-up gig” in Paris, and within an hour the Champs Elysees was swarming with fans hoping to get satisfaction with one of the 350 tickets for the Thursday night show.

The (euro) 15 ($19.5) tickets, announced on the Rolling Stones Twitter account, came with strings attached: No more than two per person, names printed on them and IDs required at the door at the show intended as a prep for the band’s 50th anniversary arena shows in London and Newark, New Jersey.

Guitarist Ronnie Wood had said in an interview with NME this week that the Stones could play several small clubs, possibly under the name the Cockroaches, an alias they’ve used before.

The group has not played together live in five years.

LIVE ON STAGE: NOT JANIS JOPLIN!

WASHINGTON (AP) – Who sounds like Janis Joplin, looks like Janis Joplin, but isn’t Janis Joplin? Mary Bridget Davies. She stars in the musical biography “One Night With Janis Joplin.” Joplin’s brother Michael says it’s uncanny how much Davies sings and moves like Janis. The play reminds him of the time he went with his parents to see Joplin perform at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco. He was a teenager at the time. He says the other bands let Joplin go on first because her parents were in the audience and didn’t want to stay up late. He says the concert was “bizarrely cool.” “One Night With Janis Joplin” is in Washington through November 4.
