Chadron State College holds its second on-campus registration and get acquainted session Wednesday with more than 100 incoming freshmen and transfers expected from 6 states.

That’s a record number and CSC Interim Director of  Admissions Lisa Stein is happy about it, saying “it’s fun and exciting to be part of an event with this many students attending,”

There are another 80-plus students signed up for a similar session in two weeks and a fourth session has been added July 10 to meet the record demand.

Interim Vice President of Enrollment Management and Marketing Jon Hansen says the numbers reflect the quality and value of CSC and “the hard work of our tremendous enrollment team over the last year.”

Stein agrees. “A lot of concerted marketing efforts went out, we’ve got some new staff, our admissions reps are excited about getting out, and we’ve tried to remain in touch with our incoming class.”

Stein thinks CSC low tuition and new out-of-state tuition rate that’s just $1 per credit hour higher than for residents has also attracted a lot of new students.

“You get a top-notch education and it’s affordable. We have kept our tuition at a rate that’s highly affordable, and our new Eagle Rate is a really important draw as well.”

The high number of enrolles does create a bit of a crunch for some classes, but Stein says the admissions and START…Student Retention and Administration Team…offices are working closely with academic leaders to accommodate the numbers and create additional course sections.

She also says that that incoming students who can’t attend one of the on-campus registrations can do it themselves online by going to the CSC homepage at csc.edu, and clicking on the “New to CSC This Fall?” rotating image for registration forms.
