The Hemingford community – and beyond – is pulling together to raise money to assist one its members who is fighting cancer.
Anthony Wyland, a 1991 graduate of Hemingford High School, is reported to be in Stage IV Squamous Cell Carcinoma and faces weeks of chemo and radiation.
A benefit for Wyland will be held Saturday, April 6 at the Box Butte County Fairgrounds Mulitpupose Hall.
Dinner will be served from 5 pm to 7 pm; a silent auction will take place from 5 pm to 8:30 pm; a live auction from 6 pm to 9 pm; and a dance will begin at 9 pm with music provided by local country-western artist Shane Keane.
A raffle for a half-side of beef, including processing, will also take place.
Monetary donations may be left at the Hemingford Credit Union. Make checks payable to “Anthony Wyland Benefit Fund.”
Wyland, 40, has coached Hemingford youth in basketball and wrestling.
