Baseball 10U Regionals Begin with Opening Night Festivities Thursday in Chadron

Chadron is welcoming in teams from seven states and Saskatchewan, Canada for this weekend’s Cal Ripken Baseball Midwest Plains Regional Tournament.

The event steps into the batter’s box with a parade at 5:00 tonight (Thursday) and opening ceremonies following at 6:00.  The parade route starts by Chadron State College and will travel north from 10th and Main Street to the baseball fields.

Chadron’s 10U Cardinals are playing in Friday morning’s opener against Kansas at 10:00 at Fitzgibbon Field, which is right across from Maurice Horse Field where the Legion Baseball teams play.  Chadron will play its second game of day one at 6:00 against North Dakota.

Five games are on the schedule Friday through Monday as each squad competes in pool play for the top seed in Tuesday’s championship bracket.

The Regional winner will advance to the 10U World Series in Jonesboro, Arkansas in August.
