LOS ANGELES (AP) – Aaron Paul is trying to get people to stoke their need to go fast. The “Breaking Bad” co-star was at the Electronic Entertainment Expo to help introduce the EA Sports racing game “Need for Speed: Rivals.” Paul showed up on stage in the custom Ford Mustang his character drives in the Need for Speed movie he stars in. He wasn’t the only celebrity on hand at E3. Rapper Drake was there to hype the next edition of the EA soccer game “FIFA 14.”

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Tonight, we’ll know the three finalists on “The Voice” this season. Last night, the top five performed. Two will get the bad news on tonight’s show. Last night’s show also featured the hometown visits of the finalists. Sixteen-year-old Danielle Bradbery went back to her Texas high school and got to sing the national anthem at a Houston Astros’ game. Michelle Chamuel sang “God Bless America” at a Boston Red Sox game. The couches were also running out of good things to say about the two. The Swon Brothers got raves from the coaches, too. Adam Levine says Sasha Allen did a great job on one of the toughest songs, Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.” Amber Carrington did the Maroon 5 song “Sad,” and Levine says she sings it better than he does.

Also in news from “The Voice”–Cher will make her first live TV performance in over a decade on the series finale next Tuesday, singing  her new single, “Woman’s World.”

NEW YORK (AP) – It didn’t take long to name a replacement to run “American Idol.” One day after Fox kicked Idol’s longtime co-producers to the curb, there’s a new person at the helm. Per Blankens has run the Swedish edition of “Idol” the past several years. On Sunday, Fox confirmed Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick were out after this past Idol season got some of its lowest ratings ever. Since season 12 ended, three of the four judges on last year’s panel have moved on.

NASHVILLE (AP) – John Mellencamp’s new musical with Stephen King was inspired by his own haunted cabin. The musical “Ghost Brothers of Darkland County” is about two sets of brothers, two of whom are dead. Mellencamp bought a cabin on Lake Monroe in Indiana and the owners told him it was haunted by two brothers who fought over a girl. Mellencamp didn’t care — until weird things started happening. He says things would move, he’d smell cigars and other funny smells and things would turn on and off. He sold the cabin. Mellencamp told the story to his agent, who also represents King, and the two decided to work together. The musical will tour this fall. A boxed set featuring Elvis Costello, Sheryl Crow, Kris Kristofferson and Rosanne Cash is available now.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – A new movie takes the top spot this weekend. The suspense thriller “The Purge” opens at number-one and it’s already a smash. The thriller cost just $3 million to make — but takes in more than 36 mil in its opening weekend. “Fast & Furious 6” drops to second, followed by “Now You See Me.” The comedy “The Internship” opens at number four. “Wedding Crashers” stars Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn play aging Google interns.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – The final five sing for your votes tonight on “The Voice.” Usher will also get up out of his coach’s chair to sing his latest single “Twisted.” One contestant will be sent home tomorrow night. But first, Fall Out Boy will sing.

The suits at Fox aren’t sitting idle, while “American Idol” is in its off-season. Fox says longtime executive producers Nigel Lythgoe  and Ken Warwick are out. Idol’s 12th season ended last month with its lowest ratings ever. The producers follow judges Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Randy Jackson out the door. We still don’t know if Keith Urban will be back for a second season as a judge.
