TV THIS WEEKEND: TINA FEY AND AMY POHLER HOST THE GOLDEN GLOBES

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Round up the usual suspects for the Golden Globes. Most of the same movies and actors who are up for Oscars will be competing for Golden Globes this Sunday. “Lincoln” leads with seven nominations. It’s competing for best move drama with “Zero Dark Thirty,” “Argo,” “Django Unchained” and “Life of Pi.” “Les Miz” is up for best movie musical. One category where the Globes differ from the Oscars is best director. Ben Affleck, Quentin Tarantino and Kathryn Bigelow are nominated for Globes, but were snubbed by the Oscars. John Hawkes is nominated for best actor after being passed over for an Oscar nomination.

BYE BYE BRITNEY? “X FACTOR” MENTOR REPORTEDLY GETTING THE BOOT

LOS ANGELES (AP) – It looks like Britney Spears is out as mentor on “The X Factor.” A person familiar with plans for the show tells The Associated Press producers discussed replacing Spears over the holidays. The source says Simon Cowell and the producers also discussed a replacement for L.A. Reid, who already has said he’s leaving the show. “The X Factor” seems to have trouble in coming up with the right mix of mentors. Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger were mentors in the first season but were dismissed in favor of Spears and Demi Lovato. Ratings for the past season of “The X Factor” have been down compared to its first season. It appears Lovato will return.

HEY, ‘MEMBER THAT OTHER JUSTIN? HE’S MAKING MUSIC AGAIN…WE THINK

UNDATED (AP) – Justin Timberlake is teasing that new music may be on the way. Timberlake’s site plays a video of him walking through the halls of a studio. Timberlake says in a voiceover he’s obsessive about his music and doesn’t want to put out anything he doesn’t love. He says he can’t “physically torture” himself that much year after year — but the video ends with him walking into the studio in front of a microphone and saying, “I’m ready.” A clock then counts down to Monday at midnight, when presumably Timberlake will make an announcement.

ADELE, SETH MCFARLANE (?!) IN THE RUNNING FOR BEST SONG OSCAR

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Adele says she feels “like Meryl Streep” because she’s been nominated for an Oscar. She’s up for best original song for co-writing the theme song for the James Bond movie “Skyfall.” Her competition includes Seth MacFarlane, who co-wrote “Everybody Needs A Best Friend” from “Ted.” The other nominees are “Before My Time” from the documentary “Chasing Ice,” “Pi’s Lullaby” from “Life of Pi,” and “Suddenly” from “Les Miserables.” The Oscars will be handed out February 24.

It’s a shame the “Thunder Buddies” song wasn’t also nominated.

‘LINCOLN’ LEADS THE OSCAR RACE

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) – The Civil War saga “Lincoln” leads the Academy Awards with 12 nominations, including best picture, director for Steven Spielberg and acting honors for Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field and Tommy Lee Jones.

Also among the 9 nominees for best picture Thursday: the old-age love story “Amour”; the Iran hostage thriller “Argo”; the independent hit “Beasts of the Southern Wild”; the slave-revenge narrative “Django Unchained”; the musical “Les Miserables”; the shipwreck story “Life of Pi”; the lost-souls romance “Silver Linings Playbook”; and the Osama bin Laden manhunt chronicle “Zero Dark Thirty.”

The Oscars feature a best-picture field that ranges from five to 10 films depending on a complex formula of ballots from the 5,856 voting members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Winners will be announced Feb. 24.

Actress Emma Stone and 2013 Oscars host Seth MacFarlane announce the nominees for Best Picture.

BIEBER’S TO-DO LIST: GO UNPLUGGED, HOST SNL

NEW YORK (AP) – Justin Bieber is putting out an acoustic album of his hits. “Believe Acoustic” comes out January 29. It includes three new songs, including “Nothing Like Us,” written and produced by Bieber alone. Bieber will also serve as both host and musical guest on the February 9th edition of “Saturday Night Live.”

BIG COMMERCIALS, BIG CONCERT FOR SUPER BOWL XLVII

NEW YORK (AP) – What can $4 million buy you? A 30-second spot during the Super Bowl. That’s the top price ads have been going for. It’s a half million dollars more than last year. Advertisers aren’t blinking an eye. All the commercial time is sold out. They figure they’ll get their money’s worth. More than 111 million people watched last year.

Between those expensive commercials–and a football game–Beyonce will perform at halftime, but a CBS executive jokes that he really wanted Janet Jackson. She was the last woman to perform at halftime on CBS and we all know what happened then. Les Moonves can laugh about her wardrobe malfunction now. The Supreme Court decided last summer not to consider reinstating the government’s $550,000 fine against CBS.
