According to Alliance Police Chief John Kiss, “On August 2 at approximately 11:00 AM, the Alliance Police Department and Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to an accident at the intersection of Seventh Street and Emerson Avenue. A 2007 Dodge Charger driven by Brigitte R. Blankenship, age 18 of Alliance, was headed northbound in the 600 block of Emerson Avenue. A second vehicle, a 2005 Dodge Durango was driven by Edward L. Lucas, age 62, of Hemingford was travelling southbound in the 700 block of Emerson Avenue.

The Charger driven by Blankenship attempted to turn westbound onto Seventh Street and struck the 2005 Dodge Durango. Mr. Lucas was transported to Box Butte General Hospital by the Alliance Emergency Unit for treatment. Both vehicles had moderate damage and had to be towed away. Blankenship was issued a citation.”
