2009 Alliance High School graduate Megan Dimmitt was crowned Miss Congeniality Sunday night at the National Sweetheart Pageant in Hoopeston, Illinois.

Crowned National Sweetheart was Jordan Krinke of California.

The pageant is sponsored by the Hoopeston Jaycees, and is held in conjunction with the annual National Sweet Corn Festival.

Dimmitt, who also graduated from Chadron State College in May, traveled from Illinois to Grand Island, NE overnight to compete at the Miss State Fair pageant in Grand Island on Labor Day where she finished as the 2nd runner-up.

Dimmitt’s pageant career began in August, 2008, when she was crowned Box Butte County Fair Queen. Since then, she’s gone on to compete three times at the Miss Nebraska Pageant, including this past June when she was Miss Northwest … a title she gives up next month.

Dimmitt is currently attending Metro Community College in Omaha studying for a paralegal certificate.
