As many of you have heard there is a flu bug going around this year and it is spreading very quickly. It is in response to this flu bug that we ask the students to not put their mouth on the water fountain. We encourage student to bring water bottles and they may fill your bottle from the water fountain. The other key to not spreading the virus is to wash your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds, several times a day. For the little ones, tell them to sing “Happy Birthday” while they are washing and when they finish singing they will have washed their hands long enough.
Allergy care plans and the attack on asthma went home on Friday. You are to fill them out and send them back to school ASAP. Our wonderful school nurses, Kate Horton and Audrey Ridenour, are gathering information to keep our students safe.
Congratulations to Christa Horn and Brian Gould. They were crowned Homecoming queen and king and they are St. Agnes Alumni Class of 2011. We are proud of you!
Thursday, September 25, Cowgirl Peg Sundberg will visit our school. Peg is the author of five children books that that deliver messages regarding character traits and values. She does not charge the school for the visit but relies on book sales as her payment. We are all dressing like cowboys and cowgirls for the day! Please take a look at the book order accompanying this letter and buy her books.
The St. Agnes volleyball team is off to a great start. Their next game will be in the Alliance Middle School Tournament, on Saturday September 20.
The seventh grade football has a game in Scottsbluff this Saturday starting at 9 AM. They won their games in Gering last Saturday. Way to go boys!
The Bishop will be here to say Mass, Friday, September 19, at 9 AM in the Church. Last week I reported the wrong time. The Mass is at 9 AM. This is for all students. We will have dress-up day on Friday rather than Wednesday this week, due to Mass.
The 1stgrade and 7th grade students are going to the bird banding on Friday September 19. They will leave immediately after Mass and arrive in Scottsbluff between11:30 and 12:00. They have permission to wear their St. Agnes T- shirts and jeans since they will be going on a field trip that day.
All teaching staff will be commissioned in week-end Masses on September 20 and 21. They will be asked to stand in Mass and Fr. John will give them a special blessing.
On Tuesday, September 23, we have the mandatory Parents Incorporated Fall Meeting. Come and meet the teachers, the Parents Inc. Board, and sign up for the committees that support the school. We will have a short open house, at the school, following the meeting. Children are welcome. There will be fun activities for them. Preschool parents are part of the school and are welcome to attend. All parents are asked to pay their Parents Inc. dues of $10 per family. Parents Inc. does so much for the students and the staff and they contribute to the school budget each month to help keep tuition reasonable. The dues provide start-up money for their many activities.
School pictures are scheduled for October 8 beginning with the preschool at 8 AM. Packets were sent home with your children. Please return the packet with your payment by that date. Thank you!
All Holy Rosary youth in grades 6-8 are invited to attend the Holy Rosary Youth Group gatherings. These take place on Wednesdays, once a month. They gather in the Parish Center youth room/hallway this Wednesday from 7-8 PM.
We strongly encourage all families to purchase lunch tickets and/or milk tickets. Lunch tickets are $25 for 10 lunches and milk tickets are $3.50 for ten milks. We do not keep money in the lunch room and are not able to make change. Also, it is much more convenient for the school and families if lunch tickets are purchased. Milk is included with each meal and only extra milk needs to be purchased.
Parents, attached to this letter is a yellow note regarding student records. Several records are incomplete and we are working hard to correct this. Please see your child’s note and send the necessary information to school as soon as possible. We are striving to have thorough records for each student.
