Officers with the Alliance Police Department are currently investigating a possible scam. One person has been arrested on charges of Theft by Deception. It appears that person was selling magazine subscriptions for an Alliance High School fund raiser and soliciting donations for children who cannot afford to receive magazines.

Be cautious when giving money or personal information to door to door salespersons or telephone solicitors. Inquire if the salesperson possesses a Peddler’s License from the City of Alliance and check with the Better Business Bureau to see if others have reported problems with the company the salesperson represents. If you suspect the salesperson is not legitimate, please call the police department immediately.
