ALLIANCE HERITAGE DAYS CELEBRATION BUILDING STEAM

Alliance-125th-Logo _ MediumThe pace of activities is picking up for the Alliance Chamber of Commerce Heritage Days celebration, running through Sunday, although the Frazier Shows Carnival closes Saturday night.

 The theme this year is: “Join Hands in Celebrating the Third Leg of the 125th Triple Crown: Alliance – 1888 to 2013.”

Friday, July 19

—  Burlington Northern Santa Fe Public Meal. Under the Big Tent at 1st and Box Butte. 11 am to 8 pm. In honor of Alliance’s 125th birthday, the meal is courtesy of BNSF. Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Bratwursts, Corn-on-the-Cob, and Pepsi. BNSF Diesel Shop Tour from 10 am to 2 pm. Karaoke, Tropical Slip-n-Slide, Water Slide, Dunk Tank, Train Displays and more.  

— KCOW Live Broadcast from downtown Alliance from 1 pm to 5 pm.

 — Seventh Street Dancers at 7 pm in the 200 Block of Box Butte.

Saturday, July 20

— Heritage Days Road Run (10K, 5K, & Two-Mile Walk). 8 am at Bulldog Stadium. Sponsored by APS Band Parents.

—  Heritage Days Craft & Small Business Fair. 9 am to 2 pm at Newberry’s. This event will feature local artisans and home based businesses.

—  Heritage Days Parade. 10 a.m. Line up begins at 9 am around Emerson Elementary School. The route includes south on Black Hills from 8th Street to 3rd Street, and then east on 3rd Street to Mississippi Avenue. Sponsored by the Alliance Kiwanis Club and the Alliance Times-Herald.

—  Mike Garwood Memorial Golf Tournament. Skyview Golf Course. 1 pm shotgun start. Proceeds to Alliance Booster Club for weight room upgrades and scholarships.

—  Native American Center Youth Dancers and Hand Drum Singers at 6 pm. 200 Block of Box Butte Avenue.

Sunday, July 21

 — Sunday in the Park Entertainment from Noon to 4 pm. Central Park. Free hot dogs, chips, and watermelon. The Carnegie Arts Center will sponsor Art in the Park.

 — Heritage Days Golf Scramble at Skyview at 3 pm.

 — Double L Team Roping at 1 pm 3.5 miles north of Alliance on Highway 87. Free admission.
