ALLIANCE HERITAGE DAYS CELEBRATION BEGINS TODAY (TUESDAY, JULY 15)

The Alliance Heritage Days celebration gets underway today (Tuesday).

The 400 and 500 Blocks of Box Butte Avenue and the parking lot south of the Alliance Times-Herald were closed early this morning to make room for the Frazier Shows Carnival which will set up today and begin a four-day operation tomorrow (Wed) and run through Saturday night, July 19.

The 300 Block of Box Butte Avenue will be closed at 3 pm today as food vendor set up will begin in that block late this afternoon.

Today is the last day to purchase ride tickets at a discount. Tickets are available from the Alliance Chamber of Commerce office from 8 until 5 or at Grocery Kart from noon until 8 pm.

Longtime Northwest Community Action Partnership Food Pantry Coordinator Betty Jo Garett will be honored as the festival’s grand marshal in a ceremony at 6 pm at the Central Park Fountain sponsored by First National Bank – North Platte. In honor of Garett, the Alliance Chamber of Commerce is conducting a food drive today. You’re asked to bring non-perishable food items to the chamber office and you’ll be registered for a chance to win your choice of $100 in chamber bucks or $100 in carnival ride tickets.

You may also bring the food items to the chamber booth at tonight’s family night activities that will located along the Snake Creek walking trail east of the fountain from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
