As has been announced by the local media, the Alliance Chamber of Commerce Heritage Days Grand Marshal is longtime Northwest Community Action Partnership Food Pantry Coordinator Betty Jo Garett of Alliance.

Garett will be honored on Tuesday, July 15 at 6 pm in a ceremony at the Central Park Fountain sponsored by the Alliance branch of First National Bank – North Platte.

The same day Garett will be honored, the Alliance Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring a special food drive for the NCAP Alliance Pantry. You are encouraged to take non-perishable food items to the Alliance Chamber of Commerce office at 305 Box Butte Avenue between 8 am and 5 pm, or to the chamber’s booth at Family Night from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm in Central Park. Anyone who donates a food item(s) or contributes in a monetary fashion will be registered for a chance to win your choice of $100 in chamber bucks or $100 in Heritage Days carnival ride tickets.

The winner will be selected on Wednesday, July 16.

If you chose to make a monetary donation, checks should be written to NCAP/Alliance Food Pantry.

Garett says that the food pantry is in need of canned soups — especially cream of mushroom, tomato and vegetable.
